Walking off a ho hum inner city street and into this colossal coffee bar/kitchen is quite surreal. You get a sense that you’re still outside, or that you’ve accidentally stumbled upon something very cool, like a gallery you weren’t expecting to visit but ended up spending hours at. Welcome to Gordon Street Garage.
What was once an old auto electrics garage is now a thriving expanse of urban cool & up-cycled gold.
Such a mammoth space might well have been a challenge for any interiors buff but Gordon Street’s rustic & sentimental inclusions & their use of recycled elements in the furnishings & fittings really lends itself to quite the unique fit-out.
Coffee is roasted onsite & you’re welcome to watch the Mano A Mano men in action.
Spacious, so very spacious yet warm, welcoming, inclusive. Feel like a quiet coffee in the afternoon sun? Sure. Feel like a busy, bustling lunch? Yep. Want a little alcove to catch up more intimately with loved ones? Please. Breakfast, lunch, dinner? Yes, yes & yes… it’s all happening here.
Outside, inside. Inside, outside.
This hidden balcony is used for growing herbs that are shipped straight downstairs to the kitchen. The food here is simple. A breakfast, lunch & dinner offering dependant on available fresh produce & updated regularly.
Really though, the pictures speak for themselves…
Whether you enter via the front door…
or the back…
you’ll find staff who are kind, inquisitive & chilled. Everyone here seems happy doing their own thing – a great mix of colours, styles, ages & agendas.
Harmony. Happiness. Gordon Street Garage.
